New year, more fun in Highland Lakes of Burnet County

During January in Burnet County, travel back in time to the Roaring ’20s at a speakeasy-themed fundraiser, support a local organization at its annual barbecue dinner and auction, or gather ’round the campfire at a state park. Seasonal visitors get a warm welcome as they mingle with other Winter Texans at a dinner created just for them.

Enjoy a fresh cup of coffee prepared the old-fashioned way and learn how cowboys of the Wild West made their caffeinated brew around a campfire with a park volunteer or ranger. There also will be a Dutch oven treat. Bring your own cup or thermos. Cowboy Coffees are Saturday mornings at Inks Lake State Park.
