May festivals from Marble Falls to Bertram
May makes merry in the Highland Lakes of Burnet County with a slew of festivals. The fun starts the second weekend of May in Marble Falls, where visitors will find downtown streets filled with artists painting in a juried plein air contest and Johnson Park filled with MayFest vendors, live music, and family activities.

Various locations in Marble Falls
Invited artists set up their easels across Marble Falls for this juried, annual plein air competition. While the artists paint what they see in the beautiful Highland Lakes, everyone else can enjoy watching them work, participating in auctions, and attending an artists reception. MAYFEST
Johnson Park, 230 Avenue J South in Marble Falls
The fun begins when the MayFest carnival games and rides begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 5. The carnival is open 5 p.m. to midnight through Friday and noon to midnight Saturday, May 8. You’ll also find plenty of food for purchase and lots of live music in the park. Free admission; carnival rides/games at a cost. Sponsored by the Marble Falls/Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce.

SCULPTURE ON MAIN STREET FEST
Lakeside Pavilion, 307 Buena Vista Drive in Marble Falls
A two-day festival, Sculpture on Main includes a show and sale of pieces by the Texas Society on Sculptures. Times are 1-5 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Be sure to also visit Main Street, where you’ll find the city’s year-round outdoor gallery with works that change each year. Canceled last year, this year’s event is being held in conjunction with Paint the Town. Both events are sponsored by Highland Lakes Creative Arts.

Local vendors, including artists, Texas wineries, breweries, and food come together in downtown Bertram, where visitors can enjoy live music while shopping. Sponsored by the Bertram Chamber of Commerce.

Burnet County Fairgrounds and Rodeo Arena, 1301 Houston Clinton Drive in Burnet
Two nights of top bull riding, bronc busting, and more. And if that’s not enough, come for the slack show at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 13, to see competitors who did not make it into the weekend showdowns. The Burnet County Rodeo is a Cowboy Professional Rodeo Association event.
