Entertainment never goes out of style at historic Globe Theatre
The Globe Theatre in Bertram is a much-loved Burnet County treasure. The historic entertainment venue sparked to life in 1935 when Bertram residents decided the town needed a “picture show building.”
Constructed of local Marble Falls red granite, the beautiful art deco building was “one of the prettiest theaters to be found in Texas in a town the size of Bertram, or even larger.”
The newly constructed, unnamed marvel opened to a full house on Aug. 20, 1935. It got its worldly moniker in October that year from a naming contest. The single-screen theater continuously showed movies for nearly 50 years before shutting its doors in the 1980s. The building remained vacant until it was purchased in 2009. After restoration, The Globe Theatre re-opened in late 2015, showing classic movies and staging live musical performances.
The 2025 live music lineup begins with:
- Kelly Willis, Jan. 10
- Sons of the Pioneers, Jan. 31
- The Texas Trio, Feb. 8
- Micky and the Motorcars, March 7
- Bob Wills’ Texas Playboys under the direction of Jason Roberts, May 3
- Tejas Brothers, May 10
The Globe Theatre is located at 132 W. Vaughan St. in downtown Bertram, Texas. The cash-only entertainment venue hosts movies, live music, and special events. See The Globe’s entertainment lineup and purchase tickets on its website.
